Benefits of walking

Since the olden times, elderly people advise everyone to maintain a good posture, especially while walking. Walking a regular basis can show good results for a healthy lifestyle, and there are a few benefits for the lower back, such as:

Strengthens the muscles that support the spine - work-life can create the muscles to be weak and lethargic. Over some time, this lethargy would lead to problems for the spine; hence, walking can be helpful at such circumstances to save your lower back. Walking helps to increase the blood flow, which improves the supply of oxygen and the required nutrients to these muscles.

Increases flexibility - lack of exercise can develop the muscles and joints to become stiff and painful in the long run. Walking can help increase flexibility while stretching the muscles and ligaments in the legs, hands, and lower back. Specific muscles are activated and stretched while walking, which could improve the flexibility of the lower back.

Strengthens the bones - bone density reduces when there is no physical activity. Regular walking can help prevent the bone density to an extent by reducing arthritis pain.

While walking can improve the lower back, there are more benefits for walking, such as:

  • Reduce excess weight
  • Prevents heart problems
  • Prevents diabetes
  • Improves mood
  • Helps to maintain a healthy lifestyle
  • Increases immunity
Techniques for effective walking
  • Warm-up or stretch the muscles before walking
  • Walk briskly but, should be able to inhale and exhale
  • Keep the shoulders and hands relaxed

Tips to prevent lower back pain while walking

Even though walking improves and strengthens the lower back; there are a few tips to keep in mind to prevent lower back pain, such as:
  • Begin with 5-10 minutes walk and gradually increase the distance and speed
  • Use correct posture while walking with the hands and shoulders relaxed

Back pain is a common health issue with most of the bike riders. It is the second most health problem after knee pain among cyclists. Despite cycling being an excellent physical workout, it often leads to excruciating back pain. As the cyclist moves the hips, ankles, and knees, the quadriceps, gluteals, and calves are also engaged. This pulling and pushing motion tends to pile pressure on the spine which eventually leads to painful symptoms on the lower back. The root causes that lead to lower back pain in bicyclists might include riding a bicycle that is too big for them, Difference in the leg length, Bad posture while riding, lack of proper flexibility, any injuries, lack of core strength, personal health problems, riding style.

Causes And Symptoms Of Peripheral Nerve Disorder

Peripheral nerve disorder also known as peripheral neuropathy indicates certain problems related to the peripheral nerves. The function of the peripheral nerves is to send messages from the brain, central nervous system and the spinal cord to the entire body. For example, when your hands are cold, the peripheral nerves tell the body and you feel the tingling effect, numbness and weakness. Many types of peripheral nerve disorders are idiopathic which means the causes are unknown, but there are a number of other conditions that trigger the growth of peripheral nerve disorder.

What are the possible causes of peripheral nerve disorder?

Here are the lists of possible medical conditions & injuries that can lead to such disorder.
  • Injuries from broken bones & tight plaster casts often put pressure on the nerves leading to certain complications in peripheral nerves.
  • If the kidneys are not functioning properly and there is an imbalance of salt and chemicals in the body, one might go through peripheral neuropathy.
  • Infections from diseases like HIV, Shingles, Lyme disease can lead to a nerve disorder.
  • Autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis & SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus) often damage the peripheral nerves.
Some bad lifestyle habits like excessive alcohol consumption, taking drugs or consuming poisons like solvents and insecticides can also damage the peripheral nerves. Even a few kinds of cancer like lymphoma can harm the peripheral nerves.

What symptoms would you see if there is disorder in the Peripheral nerve?

  • Tingling and numbness are one of the most common symptoms.
  • Some people experience hypersensitivity to pins and needles.
  • Loss of ability to fell heat and cold.
  • Some individuals go through pain whereas some individuals become unable to feel pain.

The modern Endovascular Coiling is the safest method to treat Aneurysm!

Endovascular coiling is a process in which a minimally invasive technique is used to block the blood flow into an aneurysm. Here without any incision in the skull, the brain aneurysm is treated. It has been one of the safest brain treatment since 1991.

In this treatment, a catheter is passed through the artery that contains the aneurysm. Artificial platinum coils are passed that prevents the blood from getting into it. This process is known as embolization.
endovascular surgery andhra pradesh

The technique of coiling

First, a microcatheter is passed through the actual catheter. The platinum coil is coiled with the microcatheter. Slowly the microcatheter is moved towards the aneurysm. As soon as it is inserted in the aneurysm, an electric current is passed that separates the platinum coil from the catheter. The opening of the catheter gets sealed when the coil is released. The coil then remains in the aneurysm permanently. The number coils inserted depends on the size of the aneurysm. The platinum coil is like a spring and the width may vary.

During the surgery fluoroscopy (a type of x-ray) is done to see the exact position aneurysm and catheter.

Is Brain Stroke getting into your Head?

Most of us stroke the head and look nervous when the word ‘brain stroke’ has been heard. Do you think brain stroke is something you need to be seriously worried about? Yes, it is. All of us know that the aftermath of the stroke is complicated as it can lead to permanent disabilities.

brain stroke treatment in india

Some people who might get brain stroke in future may have slurred speech and lack of coordination, some might have numbness in one part of the body. Another bunch would be having vision problems. Haven’t you seen people with almost similar disorders? If so, it is high time you make sure that they consult a neurosurgeon at the earliest because all these symptoms are much in relation with brain stroke. There are many hospitals in and around Hyderabad to lend their hands for the treatment of stroke. Out of these, Star Hospital headed by Dr. Sai Sudarsan, Neurosurgeon in Hyderabad is considered the greatest and effective.

Do you know what a stroke is?

Most of you might be of the view that stroke is a terrific medical condition. Of course, it is. The blood supply to either a part of the brain is cut off in the patients affected by stroke. That is, it happens as a result of breaking down of the blood vessels in the brain. This would definitely result in prevention of blood and oxygen from reaching the tissues of the brain.

Every Disease happens because of a Strong Reason

These are a few causes of brain stroke
1. Obesity
2. Early family history of stroke
3. Boozing and consumption of drugs
4. Unhealthy lifestyle
5. Age issues
6. High cholesterol, diabetes, and blood pressure

Brain Stroke Symptoms

It is always helpful to know the symptoms before they turn worse.

1. Weakness in limbs and facial muscles
2.  Paralysis of half body
3. Fatigue and difficulty in balancing
4. Speech loss
5. Severe headache and inability to move the eyes rapidly
If you have got a couple of the given symptoms, never hesitate to walk to the nearby hospital.

How Is Diagnosis of Stroke done?

As soon as the doctor compares the medical condition of the patient with the symptoms and signs of brain stroke, he would ask him to carry out a few medical tests such as blood tests, MRI and CT Scan, Carotid Ultrasound, Electrocardiogram, Cerebral Angiogram and Echo Cardiogram.

Treatments Available

Depending on the type of the stroke the patient had, the doctor suggests different kinds of medication. They are Anticoagulants (to reduce the inability of the blood to clot), Tissue Plasminogen Activator (to break up a blood clot), Antiplatelet Drugs (to make blood platelets unable to stick together), Statins (to reduce the cholesterol levels) etc.

There are a few medical techniques as part of the treatment of strokes for the two types of strokes such as Ischemic Stroke and Hemorrhagic Stroke. A few of them include:

Ischemic Stroke:

Mechanical Thrombectomy:
A catheter is inserted into the large blood vessel inside the patient’s head. Then the clot is slowly pulled out of the vessel using a device.
With the aid of a stent (a metal tube), the narrowed arteries are inflated.

Hemorrhagic Stroke:

A long tube to the blood vessel that has been weakened is inserted followed by installation of coil-like device into the same area. Thus the blood flow to the area is blocked and bleeding is reduced.
An aneurysm (a ballooned area in the artery) that might bleed anytime has to be prevented from bleeding. In order to do this, a clamp is placed at the roots of an aneurysm.
If all these techniques do not work well with you, the only way out is to go for a surgery as early as possible so that the blood clot and plaques be easily removed.

Prevention is better than Cure

Anybody can reduce the risk of this life-threatening diseases if they are willing to eat a healthy diet, refrain themselves from smoking and drinking and practice exercises on a regular basis.
Please bear in mind that only early diagnosis and better treatment for the person can help bring him back to normalcy. Anytime you find there is a huge possibility for brain stroke for you or your loved ones, pay a visit to Star Hospital. Dr. Sai Sudarsan is all set to welcome you here for the best Brain Stroke treatment in India.

Disc Replacement Surgery For A Better Move Of Tomorrow !!!

Are you uncomfortable with you back?  Fed up with traditional treatments?  Need a change?
The spinal disc acts as a ligament to hold the vertebrae together.  Our spine is made up of these discs. The functions of the spinal disc are to act as shock absorbers in the spine.  They are responsible for holding the vertebrae and spine together.
Dr. Sai Sudarsan is the best orthopedic doctor solve you back and cervical problem. He provides evidence-based cost-effective quality treatment to the patients.  He is one of the best neurosurgeon available in Hyderabad.  He is known for treating thousand who were suffering from a backache and cervical problems.
You may be familiar the symptoms.

Symptoms of disc diseases

  1. Lower back pain which is continuous and has lasted more than 6 weeks
  2. Pain that is centered on the lower back, it can also radiate to the hips and legs
  3. Radiating and burning pain
  4. Pain is exacerbated by certain movements, particularly bending, twisting or lifting
  5. Numbness and tingling in the legs as well as difficulty to walk
  6. Radiculopathy
  7. Some spine diseases include Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis, Adult Degenerative Scoliosis, Cervical Degenerative Disc Disease and  Cervical Disc Herniation, Spinal Stenosis, Sciatica, Kyphosis and Brachialgia.

Include Medications, hot and cold therapies, Cortisone injection and therapies like acupuncture and massage.

As the name suggests, it is minimally invasive and is to cure lumbar stenosis(spinal canal narrows and compresses the spinal cord nerves in the lower back).  This is a short outpatient procedure done using a small incision in the back without anesthesia with the help of an imaging machine and specialized tools.  The doctor will remove the excess ligament tissue and small pieces of bone through the incision. This will restore the space in the spinal canal and decreases the nerve compression.

This treatment is to remove the herniated disc from the spinal canal.  It is a minimally invasive method which makes use of the endoscope and small surgical tools.  Fragments of the spinal disc that causes pressure on the nerve are removed.

Ozone gas is directly injected into the herniated disc, the gas fills the disc and bubbles out through protrusion.  There will a chemical reaction between the gas and the nucleus of the disc.  Hence causes the shrinking of the herniated portion of the disc.  The pressure is relieved and pain disappear

In this procedure, the bones are not removed during the surgery, only reshaping or repositioning of the bones takes place. This surgical method relieves symptoms of spinal stenosis by removing the pressure from the spinal cord in the neck.
You feel free to contact Dr. Sai Sudarsan for any issues related to back problems.  This would definitely the right choice for you.

Dealing with Head Injuries...

Head injuries can be defined as any sort of injuries that occur to the skull, brain, scalp or tissues and blood vessels in the head. They can range from a mild bruise to a complicated brain injury. The treatment and other consequences of head injuries vary depending on its nature and severity.

Causes of head injuries

Head injuries can occur due to various reasons including trauma from accidents, due to powerful blows resulting from falls, physical assault or as a part of sports injuries. In babies, head injuries can occur due to excessive shaking.

Some of the common head injuries include concussions, hematoma, haemorrhage, edema, skull fractures (depressed, diastatic, basilar, and linear) and so on.

Symptoms of head injury

Our head has more blood vessels than any other part of our body and hence injury results in bleeding either internally or externally. The symptoms of head injury may not be grave initially and may vary depending on the injury.

A minor head injury may be characterised by the following symptoms: -
  • A headache or light-headedness
  • Nausea
  • A spinning sensation and mild confusion
  • Ringing in the ears
A severe head injury is often accompanied by symptoms like loss of consciousness, vomiting and seizures, coordination or balance problems, abnormal eye movements, inability to focus, worsening headache, memory loss and mood changes.

Diagnosis and Treatments of head injury

Head injuries can be diagnosed with the help of physical examination, blood tests, CT scans, X-rays, MRI and EEG. These tests help the doctor identify the cause, extent and intensity of the injury. The treatment is decided based on many factors such as the age and medical condition of the patient along with the severity of the injury.

Severe head injuries might warrant surgery to correct and manage blood clots and repair skull fractures. They also help in preventing further brain tissue damages.

Dr. Sai Sudarsan is a pioneer in the field of minimally invasive neurosurgery in Hyderabad, with a world of experience in the field.

There is no need to be in Pain Again

Artificial disc replacement surgery is also known as spine arthroplasty. Currently, artificial disc replacement is available for the neck (cervical) and back (lumbar) spine. Artificial disc replacement is an alternative to the traditional spinal fusion. The degeneration and damage of the discs that cushion the bones of the spine can be increases by the genetics, age, and daily wear and tear of routine activities.  The doctors generally start with the nonsurgical (conservative) medical treatment to treat degenerative disc disease. But, when conservative therapy fails the doctors uses spinal fusion surgical treatment. This process permanently locks two or more spinal vertebrae composed so that they cannot move. But spinal fusion has some drawbacks, such as
  • Loss of flexibility and motion
  • Permanently altered motion features and biomechanics

Artificial disc replacement is better than spinal fusion as it offers a viable, reversible option to the fusion and avoids the accepted flaws of fusion. There is the possibility of reducing damage to adjacent joints and discs by inserting an artificial disc in comparison to performing spinal fusion. Artificial disc replacement permits
  • Motion preservation
  • Normal distribution of stress along the spine
  • Restoration of pre-degenerative disc height

The technique to install an artificial disc is routine and safe. The material and design of disc is revolutionary and similar to the materials used in knee and hip replacement surgery. The material is designed in such a way that is not harmful or sensitive to the body and skin. Recovery is fast after the surgery and less painful.
Dr. Saisudarsan is one of the best neurosurgeons in Hyderabad. Dr. Saisudarsan is associated with Star hospital, Hyderabad and provides best treatment facilities for the artificial disc replacement Surgery In India
